• User-Centered Design: Understanding the user's needs and goals, and creating designs that meet those needs. This includes conducting user research, creating personas, and developing user journeys.
• Visual Design Fundamentals: Learning the basic principles of visual design, including color theory, typography, and layout. This unit will cover how to create visually appealing interfaces that are also easy to use.
• Interaction Design: Understanding how users interact with interfaces, and designing interfaces that are intuitive and easy to use. This includes designing navigation, creating wireframes, and prototyping interfaces.
• Usability Testing: Learning how to conduct usability tests, analyze the results, and make design decisions based on those results. This unit will cover how to create usability test plans, recruit participants, and conduct remote and in-person tests.
• Accessibility: Understanding the importance of designing interfaces that are accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This unit will cover how to design for WCAG 2.1 guidelines, and how to test interfaces for accessibility.
• Design Tools and Software: Learning how to use design tools and software, including Sketch, Figma, and Adobe XD. This unit will cover how to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using these tools.
• Design Systems: Understanding the importance of design systems, and how to create and maintain them. This unit will cover how to create a design system, how to document it, and how to keep it up-to-date.
• Design Leadership: Learning how to lead a design team, and how to communicate design decisions to stakeholders. This unit will cover how to give and receive feedback, how to present design work, and how to manage a design project.
• Design Operations: Understanding the business side of design, and how to manage design operations. This unit will cover how to budget for design projects, how to manage design teams, and how to measure the impact of design.
